Basingstoke voters sent new polling cards after error

Voters in a Hampshire council election have been sent the wrong information about returning postal votes.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council's polling cards said the deadline for registering for postal votes was a week later than the actual date of 18 April.

Returning officer Dorcas Bunton blamed a "printing error" and said about 75,000 replacements had been sent out.

She said an investigation was under way and the costs were being negotiated with the printers and postal service.
