David Guy's family released a photograph in a bid for information

A photograph of a murder victim whose torso was found on a Hampshire beach has been released as part of fresh appeal for information.

The remains of David Guy, 30, were discovered inside a black bin liner, by students on Southsea beach, on 3 July.

His lower body was discovered nearby, on the rocks at low tide, in front of Castle Field, on 6 July.

David Hilder, 46, of Richmond Road, Southsea, is remanded in custody, charged with Mr Guy's murder.

Mr Guy was described as white, 5ft 6in, of slight build with brown, unkempt hair.

He was last seen wearing a white, untucked, polo shirt with blue horizontal stripes, blue jeans and black shoes or trainers.

Police are continuing to examine an address in Richmond Road, Southsea.

An allotment in Locksway Road, Portsmouth was also searched.

Det Ch Insp Dick Pearson, of the Hampshire Major Investigation Team (HMIT), said: "Although we have charged a suspect with murder, one important line of inquiry is to establish David Guy's last known movements and whereabouts when he was alive.

"Mr Guy's family have kindly supplied a photograph of David, which we are publishing as part of a fresh appeal for information."

Anyone who thinks they saw Mr Guy between 30 June and 2 July is asked to contact Hampshire Constabulary.

Mr Hilder is remanded in custody to appear before Winchester Crown Court on Thursday.
