Eastleigh B&Q sees 220 job losses

The DIY firm B&Q has announced 220 job losses at its head office in Hampshire.

In a statement the company said it was restructuring its Eastleigh office in order to create a more customer "agile" retailer.

The firm said all its employees had been involved in the process.

B&Q said it is offering "enhanced redundancy packages". Last month B&Q's owner, Kingfisher, said the summer's heavy rainfall cut its profits in the UK and northern Europe by £30m.

Fraser Longden, from B&Q, said the company recognised "this is a difficult time for everyone".

He said the changes were "fundamental to creating sustainable jobs and the future growth of the business".
