A street light in Hampshire a resident claims has been left on permanently for nearly two years is to be fixed by the council.

Retired electrical engineer Roger Jubin said he first reported the faulty light in Horndean to Hampshire County Council in December 2010.

He then reported it a further two times in 2011 and once more this year.

A council spokeswoman said it was investigating the reports but would fix the problem by the end of the week.

Mr Jubin added: "I think as well as the waste of local taxpayers' money, there is also the environmental impact of the light being left on.

"It would be nice if they responded far quicker than they do."
