In pictures: Hampshire in the snow

Snow meant many people took advantage of the day off work or school on Friday. Bolton's Bench near Lyndhurst proved a popular spot for tobogganing.

The snow led to school closures and travel disruption across Hampshire. BBC South's Ben Moore snapped this photo of a grounded plane at Southampton Airport. The airport remained closed until 17:30 GMT.

And from aeroplanes to boats. Daniel Lawton captured this snowy naval scene at the Harbour Marina in Newport, Isle of Wight on Friday morning. Wightlink reported minor disruptions to its Portsmouth to Fishbourne car ferry service.

A furniture shop in Shirley, Southampton saw a business opportunity in the snow.

Lord Nelson's flagship, HMS Victory got a layer of snow at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Greg Cross made this snowman in Fareham. He named it "Darren".

Toni Briggs snapped this beach scene at Southsea, which is barely visible due to the thick snow blizzard on Friday morning.

Despite the disruption the snow is causing, there are also beautiful snapshots of winter wonderland scenes, such as this one of Beech Hurst Park in Andover, sent in by Craig Harvey.

Amy Brooks took this picture of her garden in New Milton, where she said the snow was approximately 2.5in deep on Friday morning.
