Bestival 2015: Drug seizures increase but overall crime is down

Drugs with a total estimated street value of about £70,000 were recovered at the Bestival music event.
Private security guards and drugs dogs worked alongside Hampshire Constabulary, resulting in drugs worth in the region of £37,000 being deposited in amnesty bins.
Drugs valued at approximately £33,000 were also seized by police, an increase of 64% on the previous year.
The force reported a 26% drop in crime overall at the Isle of Wight event.
A total of 54 people were arrested at the festival for possessing drugs, while another 30 were arrested on suspicion of drug dealing.
Altogether there were 182 reported crimes, down from 248 in 2014.
This included 111 theft offences and 12 assaults.
