A promenade in Hampshire has been closed after high tides and stormy seas damaged sea defences.

The walkway at Hill Head near Lee-on-the-Solent was shut east of the sailing club and a safety fence was built.

Fareham Borough Council said the closure was "essential for public safety" as the walkway could collapse.

Work on a permanent solution to repair the sea defences and enable the promenade to reopen is expected to start in January.
