A fire has destroyed the roof of a church in a Hampshire village.

The blaze was spotted at the Catholic Church of St. Thomas More, Hartley Wintney, shortly after 18:00 BST on Tuesday.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire started in a shed at the rear of the church which spread, engulfing the church roof.

Six fire engines and an aerial ladder were involved in the effort to tackle the blaze.
