M27 westbound reopened after boat involved in crash

A crash involving a boat led to the the partial closure of the M27 in Hampshire.

It happened on the westbound carriageway between junction 7 at Hedge End and junction 5 at Southampton Airport at about 06:30 BST.

Pictures from the scene showed wreckage from the boat and a van, which had been towing the vessel, near the central reservation.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said no-one was injured.

Three of the motorway's four lanes were shut while the boat and van were recovered with tailbacks of about six miles (9.6km) during the rush hour.

National Highways said the carriageway fully reopened shortly after 10:00.
