Southampton cyclists to represent GB at world championships

They race on bikes with a single gear and no brakes around dirt tracks.

Now three cyclists from Southampton are heading to the World Cycle Speedway Championships in Australia.

Maddie Saunders, Leon Penketh and Gavin Wheeler have all recently been crowned British champions.

Mr Wheeler will be competing as the national over-40s champion.

And when the championships get under way in South Australia in November, it will be 25 years since he was crowned junior world champion.
