A well-known clifftop cafe is up for sale after plans to rebuild it were approved.

Blueberrys Cafe, between Shanklin and Lake on the Isle of Wight, is on the market for £330,000.

The current owners said they were selling so they could focus on family health issues but at the moment it was "business as usual."

Plans to demolish the building and construct a new cafe and flat have been approved by Isle of Wight Council.

Claire and Liam Eede, the current owners of the cafe, said: "We have been absolutely blown away by the messages of support, understanding and well wishes by our fantastic customers.

"Blueberrys has been a team effort, the customers being a huge part of that. We have no plans of closing Blueberrys and the business is being sold as a 'going concern' so we anticipate on being at the cafe for awhile yet while we find a buyer."

Planning documents show the single-storey cafe, described as "tired and dated", being demolished and replaced with a larger, two-storey building.

A cafe will remain at the prominent seaside site but it will have an increased capacity and will sit beneath a two-bed apartment with a roof terrace.

There were seven objections to the application.

The council specified the living accommodation and cafe could not be sold separately.

In a post on X, Blueberrys said: "We first submitted our plans to the council nearly a year ago as we had hoped and planned on being able to renovate over this winter and reopen with the new and improved Blueberrys in Spring 2024.

"However, due to the delays we faced, many things changed for us and our family and it is due to some family health issues that we feel it is time for us to reprioritise."
