Portsmouth: Man dies in Eastern Road crash causing major delays across city

A man has died in a two-vehicle crash on a major Portsmouth road.
Drivers are being urged to avoid Eastern Road after a crash between a red Seat Leon and white Renault Clio at 05:39 GMT.
Hampshire police has appealed for witnesses after the Seat driver, a 50-year-old man from Southsea, died at the scene.
The force confirmed road closures would remain in place until midday.
A spokesperson asked people to "be patient" and asked any witnesses or people with dashcam footage of the crash to get in touch.

Portsmouth Roads,, external an account set up by the local authority to monitor traffic, posted a statement to confirm there are major delays between Airport Service Road, near Anchorage Park, and the A27 Farlington roundabout.
People in the city have been encouraged to consider walking, cycling or delaying their journey to avoid the traffic. For anyone attempting to leave Portsmouth, the account advised going via the M275.
