Watch: Isle of Wight resident losing her home to a landslip

A home owner has described how "overwhelming" it feels watching her home slip away after a large landslip.

Karen Back was among residents from 20 homes near Ventnor on the Isle of Wight who had to leave on Sunday night.

It happened off Leeson Road between Bonchurch Shute and Smugglers Haven on the island's south-east coast.

Ms Back and her family have left their home until they receive further advice.

She said: "We've lived here for 18 years, and been aware that we're on a landslip, but never in a million years imagined this would happen."

She said that her and her family will be living with friends nearby in the short-term.

On Tuesday, residents from some homes were able to return - a small number are awaiting further checks on their properties.

Isle of Wight Council said its officers worked with the police to help residents leave their homes in Leeson Road.

The road remains closed between Bonchurch Shute and Shanklin.
