Cliffs at risk of further movement after landslide

An area of the Isle of Wight coast where a stretch of cliff collapsed is at risk of further landslides, a council warned.

Residents from 20 homes on Leeson Road, Ventnor, had to leave after the vast collapse last Sunday night.

Isle of Wight Council said stress fractures had been detected in the surrounding coastal area.

Ill 93-year-old's 14-hour wait in ambulance

The patient's family said there were "at least 19 ambulances waiting with patients to go into A&E"

A 93-year-old man was forced to wait in an ambulance for more than 14 hours due to emergency department delays.

The patient was taken to hospital at 12:00 GMT on Monday and was not seen until 03:20 on Tuesday.

Portsmouth's Queen Alexandra Hospital said: "We are very sorry that our patients are experiencing long waits to access the care they need."

Safety calls after teen's death in speedboat crash

Safety regulations for high speed pleasure craft must be improved following a crash that killed a teenage passenger, investigators have said.

Emily Lewis died after a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) struck a metal buoy in Southampton Water in 2020.

A Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) report said the crash was an "accident waiting to happen".

Zoo helps bring antelope back from brink of extinction

A rare antelope has been brought back from the brink of extinction with the help of a zoo in Hampshire.

The scimitar-horned onyx was declared extinct in the wild in 2000 but has now been down-listed to endangered.

The change is a result of conservation efforts across the world, including from the team at Marwell.

Teachers sent to hospital after lightning strike

Priory School was struck by lightning on Tuesday

Teachers have been given heart checks in hospital after a school was struck by lightning.

Four teachers were reportedly using IT equipment when they received "mild electric shocks" at Priory School in Southsea on Tuesday.

Pupils were shut in classrooms for two hours after school leaders feared a car bomb had gone off.
