Freshwater Bay: Drivers warned as 50 sheep escape onto road

The sheep escaped from a field on the western end of the island shortly before 08:00 GMT

Traffic police on the Isle of Wight have warned drivers to be on their guard after a flock of sheep were found loose on a road.

The sheep were found running around Military Road, near Freshwater Bay shortly before 08:00 GMT.

Isle of Wight Police said: "Please be aware a sheep could surprise you or be in the road."

The force added the owner of the sheep had come forward and they were being returned to their field.
