A woman has completed a challenge to photograph every sunrise during 2023.

Frances Vigay captured every daybreak since 1 January to raise awareness of the charity Grassroots Suicide Prevention.

Ms Vigay, who has lost friends and family to suicide, said watching each day's sunrise had been an "anchor point" in her life.

She watched her 365th dawn of 2023 at 08:06 GMT near her home in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

She continued the challenge while on her summer holidays

Each day in 2023 Ms Vigay posted images and video of the day's sunrise on her Facebook page.

Most were taken near her home in Portsmouth, with shots of the sun rising over Milton Lock and the Solent at Southsea.

She continued, regardless of weather conditions, and during trips away, including family holidays in Dorset and Devon.

At the height of summer, it also meant early starts to capture daybreaks before 05:00.

She said sunrise was a time when the world was "golden and beautiful".

"I began the day in beauty - whatever happens in my life, whatever else in the world, I'd be here for the sunrise," she said.

She undertook the project to raise awareness of the charity which provides education and support for people struggling with mental health issues.

"It feels like the sunrise is a metaphor for the light returning. The dark of the night is often the hardest time if someone is feeling depressed.

"You can get through the darkness - it is a symbol of hope," she said.

She is due to be joined by a group of friends to watch the New Year's Eve sunrise at Southsea.
