Brit Awards: Southampton pop star Caity Baser in her own words

Caity Baser said after finding out she was nominated for a Brit Award she "literally screamed for five minutes".

The 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Southampton got her start on TikTok when she began posting her songs during lockdown.

Now, with more than half a million followers, she has performed at major music festivals and is currently on her own tour.

Caity, who now lives in Brighton, was nominated in the Brits Rising Star category that was won by Indie band The Last Dinner Party.

Ahead of the annual awards show on Saturday she has been talking about her rise to fame over the past year: "I used to watch the awards on TV every year when I was a kid but had no idea how a kid from an estate in Southampton would ever get there."

She was also nominated for the prestigious BBC Sound of 2024.
