A former hotel on the Isle of Wight has been wrecked by fire.

Firefighters were called to the derelict Parkbury Hotel in Broadway, Sandown, where smoke was spotted coming from the building shortly before 01:00 GMT on Saturday.

Crews from six stations on the island spent four hours tackling the blaze on the second floor and in the roof space.

Hampshire Constabulary described the fire as "suspicious" and said officers were investigating.
