Milford-on-Sea: 67-year-old man survives 100 metre cliff fall

A 67-year-old man has survived after falling 100 metres down a cliff.

Members of the police, fire service, ambulance service and coastguard responded to the incident near Whatley Road in Milford-on-Sea at around 14:30 GMT on Thursday.

The man landed on soft mud, and was then winched to safety by a Coastguard helicopter.

Miraculously, he only suffered an ankle injury and was taken to University Hospital Southampton.

Hampshire fire crews from New Milton, Redbridge and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue attended the scene, along with South Central Ambulance Service and Hampshire Police.

Southbourne and Lymington Coastguard Rescue Teams and the Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-Solent also responded to the incident.
