South Western Railway: Replacement buses due to engineering work
- Published
Train passengers are being urged to check before they travel due to disruption on key routes over the bank holiday weekend.
Four separate pieces of work across Network's Rail's Wessex route are taking place.
Buses will replace South Western Railway (SWR) services from Basingstoke to Eastleigh from Sunday to Monday.
They will extend from Eastleigh to Fareham, Southampton Central and Romsey on Sunday.
Engineers will be removing and replacing about half a mile of track between Winchester and Micheldever, with maintenance teams using the closure to clean Winchester and Eastleigh stations.
Elsewhere, engineers will be renewing switches and crossings at Aldershot junction - with the surface of Smith's Level Crossing, south of Wokingham, also being replaced.
Martin Shirley, Network Rail project manager, said: "We are sorry for any inconvenience this causes, most of our route will remain open as usual, but some services will be affected so we're asking passengers to plan ahead and check before they travel."
Bus replacement services will run on the following routes:
Saturday to Monday
Eastleigh to Basingstoke
Saturday and Sunday
Reading to Guildford
Sunday only:
Guildford to Aldershot
Bracknell to Reading
Eastleigh to Romsey
Eastleigh to Fareham
Eastleigh to Southampton Central
