Dilwyn Primary School in Herefordshire to close
- Published
Dilwyn Primary School in Herefordshire will close on 31 August next year, it has been announced.
Herefordshire Council said the 31-pupil school was "not sustainable" as a stand-alone entity.
A suggestion the school federated with St Mary's in Lugwardine was rejected over doubts the quality of education could be guaranteed in the long term.
A petition to save the school, hosted by the Dilwyn Community Website, attracted 147 signatures.
The Church of England school has 31 pupils and 21 unfilled places, said Herefordshire Council.
Any appeal must be lodged with the Schools Adjudicator.
No-one at the school was available for comment.
