Bishop of Worcester's chair stolen from church

A chair used by the Bishop of Worcester John Inge when he attended services has been stolen from a church in the grounds of Hagley Hall.

The Bishop's Chair was taken from alongside the altar in St John The Baptist Church between 5 and 11 June.

The piece of furniture is valued at £2,000 and police want to hear from anyone with information about the case.

It is described as a large wooden chair, with a high back made of dark wood, and a red velvet back and seat.

It has barley twist legs and barley twists on the back rest.

Hagley Hall is a stately home which is used for weddings and various other events including craft fairs and plays.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said the chair could have been carried out of the church, but a vehicle would then have been needed to transport it.
