Fallen trees block Herefordshire and Worcestershire roads

Forty roads were closed across Herefordshire and Worcestershire after trees were blown down by high winds.

A spokesman for Worcestershire County Council said some roads had been blocked for two hours while debris was cleared, but that all were now open.

The Environment Agency (EA) has issued two flood alerts in Herefordshire for the River Arrow and the River Lugg.

It also says peak flow along the River Severn in Worcestershire is expected at the weekend.

Levels will be at their highest in Bewdley on Saturday afternoon and in Upton-upon-Severn on Sunday morning.

The Met Office forecasts gales across the West Midlands region will ease later on Thursday.

Herefordshire Council said two roads were still closed by flooding and others were passable with care.
