Work on repairing a historic railway bridge in Worcester has begun.

The £600,000 Network Rail project involves cleaning and painting the listed Foregate bridge, which carries the Worcester to Hereford line.

Parts of the metal work and drainage system will also be replaced during the works, which Network Rail said should be finished by September.

It said the work would be done from scaffolding beneath the bridge so would not affect train services.

Traffic access under the bridge has been cut to one lane with temporary traffic lights installed.
