A large fire has broken out at a recycling plant in Kidderminster.

The blaze erupted at the Lawrence Recycling building on the Vale Industrial Estate

Billowing clouds of smoke have led to several roads being closed in the area, West Mercia Police said.

A force spokesman said officers would assist with evacuations if necessary. In the meantime, residents living nearby have been told to keep windows and doors closed.

A spokeswoman for West Mercia Police said it was possible crews would be at the scene for "several days".

It is understood there was at fire at the site in December.

Eighty firefighters were called to tackle a blaze in a building used to store paper and plastics before being reprocessed for recycling.
