Gold medallist swimmer Matt Richards has set his sights on more Olympics glory next year.

The swimmer from Worcestershire secured Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020 as a member of the men's 4x200m freestyle relay.

He went on to individual victory at the 2023 British Championships in the men's 200m freestyle and then at the World Aquatics Championships in July.

As he trains for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, he has said he hopes to become a household name in the sport.

Speaking about his success at the Worlds in Fukuoka, Japan, he told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "That was my first individual world title, so that's always going be a very special one for me and the plan now is to build on that and see if I can do it again or maybe do it again a couple of times at the Olympics.

"I've always been dreaming of winning as many medals as I possibly can - being part of those relays is very special and you develop a bond with those guys.

"There is something different about doing it on your own and standing at the top of the podium by yourself, and is something that you just want to keep doing."

Richards, who grew up in Droitwich, has also been nominated for the Athlete Award at UK Sport's PLx Awards 2023.
