A woman suffered racist abuse on a bus before she was spat at and hit, police said.

Officers released pictures of two people they want to trace following the racially aggravated assault.

It happened on the number 57/58 Diamond bus which was on Church Hill Way in Redditch, Worcestershire, at 16:45 BST on 22 July, West Mercia Police said.

PC Bednall said hate crime reports were taken seriously and urged anyone with information to come forward.

"No one should be targeted for being themselves and we never underestimate the devastating effect being a victim of a hate crime can have on people," PC Bednall said.

"I know this incident happened some time ago but I'd ask you to cast your mind back.

"If you have any information about the incident or know who the two people are in the pictures, I urge you to contact me."
