Plans submitted for Gypsy caravan site near Orleton

Four caravan pitches could be created near the B4362 if a planning application is approved

Plans have been submitted for four Gypsy caravan pitches in north Herefordshire.

The pitches could be created on land near the village of Orleton, situated west of Orchard Farm, off the B4362.

A statement in the planning application said the site would "meet a recognised need for such facilities in the area to accommodate a Gypsy lifestyle".

Herefordshire Council's own assessment has acknowledged a shortage of Gypsy and traveller sites in the county.

The planning application, from Richard Florence, of Shrewsbury, said there would be one mobile home and one touring caravan per pitch.

The site would also contain a timber-built utility and and new road access onto the B4362, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

With three caravan and park home sites within a mile of the proposed pitches, caravans "already form part of the character of the area," it added.

Comments on the planning application can be made until 30 December.
