Worcester Safe Space van opens to help people on night out

A new safe space offering medical assistance to people on a night out has launched in a city centre.
The Safe Space mobile van in Worcester will provide access to paramedics and first aid facilities, as well as spare clothing and mobile phone charging.
It will operate on Friday and Saturday nights during the festive period, between 22:00 and 04:00 GMT.
Richard Nash, paramedic, said he hoped the initiative would relieve some of the pressure on emergency services.
"I think it will be very good for the city centre, it's going to supply facilities and welfare to a range of people," he said.
"If we can treat and triage on the side of the road, rather than calling an ambulance, hopefully that will pay some benefit to resources within the NHS as well."
Worcester's Business Improvement District is behind the project which is also designed to offer support by way of toilet facilities and tea and coffee.
It will be stationed at the city's Cornmarket from 22:00 to 01:30 GMT, before moving to Angel Place where it will remain until 04:00 GMT.
