The double yellow lines have been described as a "waste" by some posting on Facebook

Drivers in Hereford said they have been left baffled at double yellow lines which were painted around the inside of a roundabout.

Chris Ogleby spotted the new road markings around the central reservation on Central Avenue.

The van driver admitted the lines left him feeling "bewildered" as he did not believe anybody could park there anyway.

Herefordshire Council has been contacted by the BBC for comment.

"It is quite a small roundabout and the road is quite narrow so there is no chance anybody could park there anyway," Mr Ogleby added.

People writing on the Your Herefordshire Facebook page, which posted a photograph of the lines, external, called the lines a "waste".

One said: "I live in one of the houses literally next to the roundabout and not once did I see anyone park on it. Such a waste."

Another added: "If you don't know that you can't park on a roundabout, then it's time to hand your driving licence back in."
