Students stage Hull university sit-in over tuition fees
- Published
Dozens of students have taken occupation of a building at Hull university in protest at increased tuition fees.
A party from Hull Students Against Cuts took control of the upper floor of Staff House on Monday morning.
The group, which is protesting about reductions in university funding and fee rises, said it was prepared to stay there for the "long haul".
A University of Hull spokesman said there was no comment about the action.
Student Chris Marks said: "People will not come to university. This will put off working class people from coming to university when they see £9,000 per year on top of all the maintenance costs that students have to pay as well."
