Missing Hull man's disappearance 'a mystery'

Police have carried out large-scale searches for Mr Conboy

Police searching for an elderly man missing for two years have said his disappearance remains a "mystery".

Michael Conboy, of Saxcourt, Hull, was reported missing on 20 April in 2009, when he was 80. His disappearance has been described as out of character.

Officers have carried out large-scale searches and held numerous appeals but he has not been found.

James Conboy, Mr Conboy's brother, said: "The family is still missing him, still hoping for something to happen."

Mr Conboy is described as white, 5ft 4in tall (1.62m), very slim and balding with grey hair.

His nephew, Paul Robinson, said: "He is in our thoughts every day. We can't believe that there is still no news."

Mr Robinson added: "We've handed out flyers, posters, made personal appeals and you would think out of all of that there would have been one positive clue or lead that we could follow up but it really beggars belief."

Det Con Alex Longbone, from Hull missing and exploitation team, said: "What happened to Michael Conboy remains a mystery and I can not begin to imagine what his family have been through over the last two years.

"Despite this thorough investigation Michael still has not been found.

"So we are again asking the public to think back two years to anything no matter how small that may assist us."
