Hull electricity pole cable theft prompts warning

  • Published

Thieves climbed up five 15ft (4.5m) high electricity poles and stole 100ft (30m) of cabling.

Police said the thieves had cut through the 11,000-volt earthing cable after climbing up the poles on Neat Marsh Road in Preston, Hull, on Thursday.

Officers have warned the offenders could have been seriously injured or killed carrying out the theft.

Scrap dealers are being urged to report anyone trying to sell the stolen cable and police have appealed for witnesses.
