A train operator has cancelled all services running from Hull to London due to problems with carriages.

First Hull Trains said services to the capital had been pulled for the day and it would only be running trains between Hull and Doncaster.

Passengers are being advised to report to departure stations where alternative rail transportation will be provided.

It comes after the operator was ranked joint first in the country for customer satisfaction according to a survey.

In a statement, the operator said: "Due to rolling stock problems First Hull Trains will be operating a restricted service on July 5.

"Passengers due to travel today should report to departure stations as planned where alternative rail transportation will be provided.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to your journey."
