Yorkshire coast fishing industry gets European cash

The Holderness coast has been awarded £1.15m to develop the local fishing industry.
The Yorkshire coastline, between Flamborough Head and Spurn Point, is mainly known for crab and lobster fishing.
The industry currently supports 66 vessels and employs around 145 people.
The European Fisheries Fund money will be used to improve branding, develop apprenticeships and promote associated businesses.
Holderness Coast Fishery Local Action Group (Flag) will administer the funds.
Arthur Hodgson, Chair of the Flag Board, said: "The allocation of this European funding to the Holderness coast represents a major opportunity for both the fishing industry and the fishing communities locally to secure real economic improvements.
"We have a very successful and sustainable fishing industry, landing a high quality product, but this is not well known.
"The aim of the Flag is to build on this success and to use the industry as an economic driver to benefit the communities along the coast."
