In pictures: Hull public sector strike action
Thousands of public sector workers are on strike across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
People in Hull joined more than two million across the UK striking against government proposals for public sector pensions.
Following a rally in Hull's Queen Victoria Square, hundreds of workers took to the streets marching through the city at 12:00 GMT, with a number of roads closed in the centre.
Humberside Police said more than 700 people marched through the city centre. Organisers estimate the figure to be about 5,000.
More than 200 schools across the region were either closed or partially open. The action also affected libraries, jobcentres, bin collections and ports.
Ministers argue the terms on offer are still far better than those for private sector workers.
Picket lines and rallies were also organised in Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Driffield, Hornsea, Withernsea and at hospitals in Bridington and Hull.
