Humberside Police horse Ross retires after 15 years

Humberside Police's longest-serving police horse is to retire after 15 years of service.
Ross joined the force as a four-year-old.
Over his career he has policed demonstrations, marches, strikes and football matches as well as carrying out routine patrols at night in the region's towns and cities.
One of his riders, PC Caroline Middleton, described him as "the best police horse we have ever had".
As well as his policing duties, Ross has taken part in parades and public events, such as the Queen's Golden Jubilee Celebrations in 2002.
Ms Middleton said: "Ross has impeccable manners. He is a joy to work around in every field.
"He has no vices and is very polite. He is well behaved for everyone including the farrier, vet and groom.
"He would load himself into the lorry if he could. He generally knows what you want from him before you even ask."
Ross will spend his retirement with other ex-police horses at farm in Buckinghamshire run by the Horses' Trust charity.
