Cocaine found on ship at Immingham Docks

Cocaine worth an estimated £5m has been seized from a cargo ship at Immingham Docks in Lincolnshire.

The drugs were found on a cargo vessel carrying coal which had travelled to the UK from Puerto Prodeco, Colombia, via The Netherlands on Monday.

Border Force officials discovered the 45kg haul at about 06:00 BST and said the drugs would now be destroyed.

The UK Border Agency said no arrests had yet been made.

The agency said it was the latest in a series of interceptions to take place at Immingham in recent months.

In June, cocaine worth £1m was seized from a ship that had also travelled from Colombia.

Four illegal Albanian stowaways were also stopped at the port last month and denied entry to the UK.
