Part of the A180 in North Lincolnshire is closed after a lorry hit a bridge causing extensive damage.

The Highways Agency said the eastbound carriageway north of Brocklesby is shut to allow demolition work on the damaged section.

The work is due to begin at 19:00 GMT on Friday and the road is expected to reopen on Saturday.

A diversion is in place for drivers heading to Grimsby and Immingham Docks.

The Highways Agency said: "An emergency inspection last night and two further detailed inspections today have concluded that the damage is so extensive that the section of the bridge over the eastbound carriageway will need to be demolished."

The agency added that the westbound carriageway would also be closed at some point during the demolition process.
