Bridlington beach hut becomes advent calendar
- Published
A beach hut in Bridlington is transformed into a life-size advent calendar for the fourth year running.
The traditional advent calendar is given an unusual twist using hut number 1 on the town's South Shore.
The Reverend Simon Smales said: "It is a way of celebrating advent, in a world of instant purchase you lose the value of waiting."
Inside the beach hut visitors would find a different advent display for each of the 12 days it was open.
Members of the Fresh Expression church at St Max's in the town will host advent events at the beach hut including school choirs, live music and puppet theatres spreading the Christmas message.
Volunteer Richard Hines said: "It's a wonderful way for people to leave the hustle and bustle of Christmas behind."
On 19 December, visitors to the beach huts will be invited to record their messages to be made into a video tape to be posted online. The Bishop of Hull is to record a forward for the video said organisers.
The calendar is open between 18:00 and 19:00 GMT on Saturday 1, 8 and 15 December, then everyday until Christmas Eve.
The door is opened at 18:00 GMT on 12 days running up to Christmas and everyone was welcome said Mr Smales.
