In pictures: Duchess of Cambridge visits Grimsby

Hundreds greeted the Duchess of Cambridge as she spent the day in Grimsby for a series of solo engagements.

A royal fan dressed in a St George costume, riding on a scooter decorated as a dragon, rides past crowds waiting for the arrival of the Duchess of Cambridge.

Catherine was welcomed by the Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Tony Worth, after arriving more than an hour late due to the weather.

She was given a tour of the National Fishing Heritage Centre by local ex-fisherman, John Vincent, where they discussed environmental issues, such as the sustainability of North Sea fishing.

The Duchess of Cambridge received flowers from children on her way to Humberside Fire and Rescue Service's Peaks Lane fire station.

Catherine met firemen and volunteers from the Prince's Trust at Peaks Lane fire station.

The 31-year-old made an unplanned stop at St Andrews Hospice during the day.

Hundreds of cheering pupils lined the path to Havelock Academy and waved flags before the duchess unveiled a plaque marking the official opening of the school.
