A nursery in Grimsby is set to adopt a reading scheme created by US country star Dolly Parton.

The Imagination Library will be launched at the Little Stars Day Nursery in partnership with the Rotary Club of Cleethorpes.

Children at the nursery will be given a free book every month until they are five, starting with Beatrix Potter's The Tales of Peter Rabbit.

Parton launched the scheme in Rotherham in 2007 after pioneering it in the US.

The nursery is the 57th place in the UK to start an Imagination Library.

Parton developed the project in 1995 for her hometown of Sevier County in Tennessee.

It proved so successful that neighbouring communities asked to join, before it spread across the US.
