Woman on trial accused of killing Joanne Hemingway

Joanne Hemingway died in hospital after the attack outside a flat on Beverley Road
A woman who died following an assault in a Hull street was stabbed in the chest with such force that the knife blade broke off, a court has heard.
Joanne Hemingway, 39, was attacked outside a flat on Beverley Road on 29 June.
She died from her injuries in hospital later the same day.
Angela Burkitt 53, also of Beverley Road, has pleaded not guilty at Hull Crown Court to murder and intimidating a witness.
Opening the case for the prosecution, lawyer Simon Waley alleged Ms Hemingway and Ms Burkitt, who were neighbours, had been involved in a dispute.
The court was shown CCTV footage of the pair fighting on Beverley Road earlier that day.
Giving evidence, Ms Hemingway's 21-year old-daughter, Roxanne Boast, said her mother had admitted she had previously been violent towards Ms Burkitt.
The prosecution claimed the defendant had a clear motivation for carrying out a revenge attack on Ms Hemingway,
Ms Burkitt told police at the time of her arrest that she was acting in self-defence.
The trial continues.
