A63: Man seriously injured after car crashes into tree

A man has been seriously injured after a car crashed off the A63 near Hull and hit a tree.

The westbound carriageway was closed for several hours after the crash at about 03:30 GMT leading to long delays.

One lane has since been reopened between the A15/A1105 near Melton and the A1034 near North Ferriby.

Humberside Police said the man has been taken to hospital for treatment. Officers are advising motorists to avoid the area where possible.
