Hull murder investigation arrests after assault victim dies

A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a man following an assault in Hull.

Richard Gray, 45, was left seriously injured in the attack on Gainford Grove at about 04:00 GMT on Thursday and died later in hospital, police said.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of his murder and they remain in custody, officers added.

Det Ch Insp Doug Blackwood said it was thought to be "an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public".

He added: "We understand a tragic incident of this nature will cause shock to the local community."

Patrols in the area would be stepped up to provide reassurance, according to the Humberside force.

A cordon remained in place while inquiries into the incident continued, a spokesperson added.
