Bridlington: Paddleboarders rescued by lifeboat crew
- Published
A pair of paddleboarders who got into difficulty off the East Yorkshire coast were rescued by lifeboat.
Both men had been unable to get back to the beach due to the wind and the strong current on Saturday.
The volunteer crew from the Bridlington RNLI station had been heading towards Flamborough Head for exercises when the alarm was raised.
They managed to retrieve both men, one of whom had sustained minor injuries, and returned them to the harbour.
The all-weather boat Anthony Patrick Jones received a mayday request from a passing yacht which had seen the two men in the water at 10:41 BST.
The lifeboat was about two miles (3.2km) away from the men and was immediately diverted to assist.
The two men had travelled from the Midlands to North Landing at Flamborough to view the caves.
The RNLI said the men's paddleboards had been suitably equipped with buoyancy aids, whistles and mobile phones.
