A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Hull, Humberside Police said.

Officers were called to a property in Hardy Street at 22:15 GMT on Wednesday to reports that a man had suffered a stab wound.

The 19-year-old victim, named as Sachin Hawkins, died a short time later in hospital.

Syed Hussain-Kazi, of Hardy Street, appeared at Hull Magistrates' Court earlier charged with his murder.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Hull Crown Court on 20 November.

In a tribute, Sachin's mother said: "He was a young man who wanted to be an aspiring special education teacher.

"He loved his family and friends, they meant the world to him. He wanted to make everyone proud and was a role model for the younger generation.

"Sachin was loved by everyone."
