Toni Andrews, from Hull, was jailed for 16 months

A woman who took indecent photos of a child for her paedophile boyfriend has been jailed.

Toni Andrews, from Preston near Hull, admitted possessing more than 800 indecent images of children as well as taking five photos of a young girl.

Hull Crown Court heard Andrews, 23, was engaging in her ex-boyfriend's "paedophilic fantasies" but had no sexual interest in children herself.

She was jailed for 16 months at a Hull Crown Court hearing on Wednesday.

Andrews' devices were searched after the National Crime Agency (NCA) was alerted to indecent images downloaded by her former partner, Thomas Edeson, 24, of Franklin Street, Hull.

He was jailed for two years in 2021 for sexually assaulting a young girl and taking indecent images of her.

Officers discovered images had been taken on Andrews' phone of a naked child, which Andrews said her boyfriend had "nagged her" to take.

Edeson told the NCA officers that Andrews had provided him with children's underwear and sexual images of children.

Andrews was sentenced at Hull Crown Court on Wednesday

The prosecution barrister said Andrews had been "willingly engaging in Edeson's paedophilic fantasies".

In a statement, the child victim said they had been left feeling "ashamed" and "upset" and the incident had led to them self-harming.

In mitigation, Andrews' defence barrister said she was a "vulnerable" person who was "easily manipulated" and had been controlled by her boyfriend.

'Catastrophic effect'

Judge Mark Bury told Andrews: "You were aware of your boyfriend's sexual interest. You not only did nothing to stop it, you encouraged it.

"The effect of what you have done has been catastrophic. It affects the victim every day."

Holly Triggs, NCA senior investigating officer, said Andrews had "violated the privacy and innocence of a young girl to service her boyfriend's sexual interest in children".

Andrews was sentenced for possession of 35 category A images, 15 category B images, 40 category C images, 525 prohibited images of children and 217 extreme pornographic images.

She was also charged with two counts of taking indecent images of a child.
