People are being invited to find out more about multimillion-pound plans to redevelop Goole.

The plans include £3.1m being spent on public spaces, with improved landscaping, seating and signage.

Also included is a £2.4m revamp of the town's station, designed to provide "a more appealing environment".

The plans, which form the Goole Town Deal, can be viewed from midday to 19:00 GMT at Goole Market.

Phil Jones, chair of the Goole Town Deal Board, said: "It is all systems go now for Goole Town Deal after what feels like a very long development phase. People are going to see so much happening during the next two years.

"As a number of the projects are just about to enter the delivery phase, the exhibition will give the local community an update on what's happening now, and what happens next.

"People will also get a first glimpse of proposals for the public realm and Station Hub projects and a chance to have their say on them."

East Riding of Yorkshire Council said the works would "refresh" the town centre, with public spaces promoting walking and cycling while improving "connectivity" between key locations and buildings.

As part of the Station Hub project, a new shuttle bus service to key employment sites would be provided.

At the event, updates will be given on other elements of the Goole Town Deal, including the planned revamp of venues such as the Market Hall, Victoria Pleasure Ground and East Riding Leisure Goole.
