Police made two arrests after reports a woman had set fire to household items at a property in Scunthorpe.

Officers were called to Elizabeth Street at around 06:00 GMT on Wednesday following reports of a disturbance and a cordon was put in place.

Humberside Police said a 26-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary, affray and causing public nuisance. A man, 35 was also arrested.

The force said residents would see an increased presence during the inquiry.

Insp Chad Stevens said: "I want to thank residents for their cooperation this morning whilst officers put a cordon in place to ensure everyone's safety.

"I fully appreciate the inconvenience this can cause, however it was essential so that we could bring the incident to a swift and safe conclusion."
